2015 a golden year for EYH

27/01/16 01:41

In 1965 the first boats entered the newly created Emsworth Yacht Harbour. The old logging ponds had been transformed into a marina basin complete with pontoons and fingers and welcomed its first residents. To commemorate this we decided to expand our events programme and include some "Anniversary Specials". The main event was a Gala Dinner and Dance at the Brookfield Hotel in Emsworth in October when we were lucky enough to be entertained by after dinner speaker and renowned yachtsman Tom Cunliffe. We also had a competition for Best Dressed Boat at our summer party and an exhibition during October at Emsworth Museum which was well attended.

On the development front, 2015 saw the replacement of D pontoon with new fingers, walkways and electrics leaving us only A pontoon to go.... We added a new specially commissioned security gate onto B pontoon and replaced many of the meters on the hardstanding.

We said a sad goodbye to Tony who retired in March and welcomed Nick and Alan to the Harbour Team.

Just before Christmas, Cutler Marine joined the marina community from Thornham Marina. taking over part of the green workshop and the office space formerly occupied by Slipway Marine.

All in all a year to remember! Thank you to all of our customers and tenants who have made it such a wonderful fifty years.
